Terms of use

1. What is Tavernly?

Tavernly is a platform that helps Dungeons & Dragons players, Dungeon Masters and groups in the Netherlands and Belgium find each other to play in person, at the table. We bring people together; organising and playing sessions is something you do yourselves, outside of Tavernly.

2. Minimum age: 18

You must be 18 or older to create an account and use Tavernly. When signing up, you confirm that you meet this age requirement. If we find that an account was created by a minor, we delete it.

3. Rules of conduct

To keep things pleasant for everyone, we expect you to:

• treat other users with respect: no intimidation, discrimination, hate or threats;
• not post spam, advertising, chain messages or misleading content;
• not share unlawful, offensive or explicit content in your profile, group descriptions or messages;
• not impersonate anyone else and provide accurate information about yourself;
• only upload a profile photo that's yours or that you're allowed to use, and that doesn't show other recognisable people without their consent. We may remove an inappropriate photo;
• respect other people's privacy and not share other people's personal data without consent.

4. Meeting in person: at your own risk

Tavernly helps you find people, but we don't screen users and we're not present at your sessions. Meeting up and playing happens entirely at your own risk and responsibility. A few tips for a safe first meeting:

• Meet in a public place the first time, for example a game shop, café or library.
• Tell someone you trust where you are and who you're meeting.
• Don't share your home address or other sensitive information right away.
• Something doesn't feel right? Leave and report the user to us.

5. Your content

You remain the owner of what you post on Tavernly (profile text, group descriptions and so on). By posting it, you give us permission to show it to other users within the platform, insofar as your visibility settings allow. You're responsible for the content you share.

6. What we may do

We want to keep Tavernly safe and pleasant. That's why, when necessary, we may:

• remove or edit content that violates these terms;
• temporarily block or permanently delete accounts in case of abuse, spam or unsafe behaviour;
• investigate reports from users.

We try to act reasonably and proportionately, but in case of serious or repeated abuse we may close an account without prior notice.

7. Liability

Tavernly is provided “as is”. We do our best to keep the platform available and accurate, but we give no guarantees about uninterrupted availability, the accuracy of information posted by users or the consequences of contacts made via Tavernly. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damage resulting from the use of the platform or from meetings between users. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under mandatory law.

8. Termination

You can stop at any time and delete your account via your profile page. On deletion we erase your profile data; see our privacy statement.

9. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time, for example when new features are added. In case of important changes we'll do our best to inform you. The date at the top of this page shows when the terms were last updated.
